The author of this article draws attention to the problem of precarization of housing in Russia. In order to actualize it, the institutional and legal nature of the phenomenon of precarious housing as unstable, unreliable, temporary is revealed. The emphasis is placed on the fact that, thanks to formal rules and regulations, there are many life situations that can lead to the loss of ownership of housing or contribute to eviction from rented housing.
